Elder Matt Hansen:

May 19, 2008
It was so good to talk to everyone on Mother's Day. Frank came to church today and he gets the priesthood next week and that will be awesome and he is so excited. We also have two investigators with a baptismal date for next month so hopefully things will work out for them. It depends on the day how much we walk. Usually about 5 to 7 miles. We usually ride bikes cause our area is so big. Last week we had zone conference and we got to see President and Sister Taylor. It's always good to see them, they are so nice and we always learn a ton from zone conference so it was good. The only hard thing right now is me and my companion aren't getting along very well. He is a good teacher and very smart and it just feels like nothing I do is ever good enough. I don't know if it's because he is native and I'm not or what. It can just be discouraging sometimes. It's ok though, hopefully things will get better soon. Other than that, things are going good. Those pictures I sent were of me eating Ugali in our kitchen and a wedding about a month ago. The weddings here are pretty cool, they are definitely different but cool. Just know that everything is just fine. I love you and miss you and hope you have a wonderful week. Talk to you later. Thanks for everything mom, you're the best.

Love, Elder Matt Hansen

Elder Brantley Shattuck:

Brennon is a 12 yr old that I helped baptise. He is in a wheel chair because of muscular dystrophy. His grandfather baptised him but I carried him into the fount and helped "push" him under the water. It was a very choice experience.

I had quite the interesting experience this past Sunday. After Gospel Doctrine my companion and I were kind of just loitering around in the entrance to the church chit-chating with members when one of the Relief Society women came and asked us if we could fill in for a teacher that went home sick. I said sure - thinking I would be be teaching 10 or 12 yr olds. Turns out she meant teach Relief Society! I've never been so nervous to teach as I went to the front of the room and all those women were expecting to hear a good lesson. The lesson went great, we even had a few sisters in tears! So there you go, I can handle anything thrown at me :0).

Everything is going good, Kathleen(woman scheduled for baptism) called me yesterday and she smoked a cigarette so now we have to start all over and keep her clean for two weeks until she can get baptised. It was kind of sad, she was crying the whole time and she was all depressed but I think she will do it this go around. So now she is scheduled for the 17th of May, we also scheduled another lady yesterday named Dorothy(scheduled for same day), so there is quite a bit of action going on right now. I am doing fine, I had interviews with President Wixom yesterday and that was good, he told me he has big plans for me so we will see what that means. There are no tornadoes here, just hot freaken humid weather! I am not excited for the summer! I wish I had something interesting to tell you but I kind of just do the same thing over and over every day. I like it, don't get me wrong, it's just it is very repetitive to write. Today we are going to look at this guy's Harley that is custom painted with Book of Mormon stories on it, I will send pictures. I am with one of those missionaries that is out just cause his family wanted him to go, and it hasn't done a lot for him.... so it is better someone come out for the right reason and not just come out. My companion has been out for 18 months and is ready to go home, he is lazy but I am doing my best with him, I don't like him as a companion but he is cool as a person if you know what I mean. He is from Three Forks Montana, I will send pictures home at the end of every transfer.

Yesterday was awesome, we took Kathleen McDonald to the visitors center and watched the Joseph Smith movie. She loved it, not to mention the Temple. It was so neat, kind of relaxing too, it is amazing how easy it is to feel the spirit while on the Temple grounds! Kathleen is going to be baptised on the 17th along with another investigator named Dorothy Culver. I hope I don't get transferred so I can be a part of it. If I do get transferred I think I will find a way to be there anyways.

I am training this next transfer, and get to stay in Warrenton so my prayers were answered!! Ya I won't know who my companion is until tomorrow morning, President has to pick the greenie's up, have interviews with them and then I will be assigned to one of them tomorrow at transfer meetings. Grant is staying as well and is also training but also is District Leader, which kinda sucks, I never want to be in leadership, I don't think that he did either. We aren't in the same district either but I will still see him every Monday. So everything has worked out almost perfectly. Anyways I have a Temple conference on the 20th, that is where half of the entire mission gets to go to the Temple together. That will be fun! I am excited for it!

Elder Cameron Summers:

Cameron's mission farewell has been set for July 11, 2008. He will speak during Sacrament Meeting which starts at 1:30 pm at the Burton Church, located on the corner of 2000 South and 4000 West.

Elder Andrew Pena:

May 16, 2008
Andrew made it to Fresno just fine. His Mission President said he is assigned to work with one of their "outstanding trainers". Andrew called Sunday for Mothers Day. It was so good to hear his voice. Everyone was able to talk to him so he didn't have much time to speak to us. He loves what he is doing and is enjoying learning about the gospel. He sends his love to all and hopes we are doing what the Lord wants us to be doing. He loves it there but he is sweating like "basketball sweat" he says. He was riding on his bike to an appointment. He had to ride 7 miles and by the time he got to his appointment he was dripping sweat. While he was dripping wet he had to give the law of chastity. The first day he was there he was out trackting. He said he's learned how to say hello in 4 different languages. He was planning to go on a hike on p-day with his companion and his Mission President.

The MTC is great, just the first like day and a half sucked! Then it's just gotten better and better. We're done teaching lesson one and moving onto lesson two so I'm learning lots and I loved both your scriptures that you both sent. My companion is cool so it's good. My entire district is going to Fresno. We leave May 7th at 8:00 am. Already I have been able to overcome so many weaknesses and it's like they have never been a problem in my life! That is a sign of the Spirit working! It truly works miracles, I love it! I felt that I have learned more in this 1 1/2 weeks than I have in my life about anything. Wow, so we gave a lesson on God the Father and it turned out so much better than I intended. It's so weird how when you put everything you learn from churcn and actually put it to the test in real situations in life how much better those situations become. While I'm gone make sure to whip those brothers of mine into shape would ya! We listened to the MTC fireside and Brother and Sister Palmer, but after we went and watched films and Elder David A. Bednar gave a talk on "Becoming a better missionary." Wow do I need improvement!...Gosh I love you guys. Remember to always do your studying with your children! They are going to be so blessed! I look up to you guys so much! Thanks for everything. Elder Peña

Elder Scott Snell:

Hey, Well first thing is first - I love you all. I miss you all as well but I love Korea!! I got a new companion today, his name is Elder Jordan Thompson, he is from Tremonton, Utah. He looks super familar but he did go to BYU-I for two semesters so I don't know, maybe I have met him before. We will see if we can figure it out, we have a while together. This week was really good, I had my first investigator come to church and she loved it. We will see how it goes. Elder Mitchell, my last companion, went and said goodbye to all the members last night. I really didn't realize how much I love my Branch. I will be really sad when I get transfered. Mom as for me getting discouraged about the language, it happens every once in a while but you know me, I don't let it bother me to often. I know that if I just work hard and keep praying it will come. So keep praying for me. I need all the help I can get. This week was really good- I got to go to a play/dance sort of thing. It was really interesting in the beginning which is code for boring. But in the end it really picked up and it was really good. I really enjoyed it. One of our investigaters took us. Korea is so Beautiful I am sending picutures soon, don't worry. If you can talk Ky into it, I sent her a couple already, maybe she can come show you guys them but yours will be on the way soon. We got to go to Nam Hey which is the little island close to Sam Cheon Po yesterday. It was awesome. It is so beautiful- I wish you all could see it.

May 14, 2008
Yesterday was children's day in Korea and the post office was closed so we had no where to email until today. I am keeping busy trying to learn this language and teahcing all of the people we have found. Some days it's amazing and I never want to leave. But of course there are always those tough days where you get door after door after door slammed in your face. But we really have some good investigators. We had two of them come to church this week which is a first for me. I think that with some vistors and investigators there we almost had 25 people there. That is the biggest ward I have been in since I left home. It was really good but kind of loud, I had grown acustom to the quiet sacrament meeting. I love the Korean people. I really wish all of you could come and meet them all. They are really nice and they take care of us missionaries pretty well. This week I got a new companion and it has been fun. A lot of peolpe have told me to keep an open mind about it so I have. Most of the time I can't understand what is going on anyway. (I was exaterating of course). I really like Elder Thompson, he is a good guy and an even greater missionary. His dad builds churches so we both have constuction backrounds. Since we both do we decided to fix up our apartment this week. Since our apartnment is the oldest one in the mission it's really disgusting. I stripped the bathroom of all the old moldy calk and recalk it all. We cleaned and scrubbed our cubboards. It still needs a lot of work but it looks a lot better. I haven't stopped cleaning since i got here. I love you all, I will talk to you next sunday.
Love Elder Snell
